Turn a PDF into a Word document (DOCX) you can edit in Microsoft Word, LibreOffice Writer or Google Docs. The converter reads the text in your PDF, works out headings, paragraphs, lists and bold text, and rebuilds them as a normal, editable document instead of a picture of each page.
How to convert PDF to Word
- Drop your PDF on the page or choose it from your device. If it is password protected, enter the password when asked.
- Choose whether to include images and keep page breaks. For a scanned PDF, turn on OCR so the text can be recognized.
- Select Convert to Word and download the DOCX file.
Why no upload matters
Contracts, CVs, invoices and medical letters are exactly the kind of PDFs people convert to Word, and exactly the kind you should not hand to a stranger’s server. Here the conversion runs in your browser tab: the PDF is read, analysed and turned into a DOCX on your device, and the file is never uploaded.
There is no account and nothing to delete afterwards. Close the tab and the file is gone from the page.
What converts well
- Documents made from text: reports, letters, articles, manuals and forms exported from Word or another editor.
- Headings, paragraphs, bulleted and numbered lists, and bold text.
- Images placed in the text flow, when “Include images” is on.
- Right-to-left text such as Arabic or Hebrew: the document is set to right-to-left automatically.
- Repeated page headers and footers are detected and left out, so they do not appear in the middle of your text.
Limits
- The document is rebuilt from the PDF’s text, not copied pixel for pixel. Multi-column layouts, tables, text boxes and exact fonts are simplified.
- A scanned PDF contains pictures of pages, not text. Turn on OCR to recognize the text first; OCR uses the language of this page (English) and accuracy depends on the scan quality.
- Very large files take longer and need more memory, especially on phones.
Frequently asked questions
Is this PDF to Word converter free?
Yes. There is no sign-up, no watermark and no limit on the number of conversions.
Is my PDF uploaded to a server?
No. The conversion runs in your browser on your own device. Your file is not sent anywhere.
Will the Word file look exactly like the PDF?
Not exactly. The text, headings, lists and images come across as editable content, but complex layouts, columns, tables and special fonts are simplified. It is best for documents you want to edit, not for reproducing a design.
Can it convert a scanned PDF to Word?
Yes, with OCR turned on. The text is recognized on your device with Tesseract. The language data is downloaded once from this site and cached, and the result depends on how clear the scan is.
Which Word format do I get?
A .docx file, the format used by current versions of Microsoft Word. It also opens in LibreOffice, Google Docs and Apple Pages.
Can I convert a password-protected PDF?
Yes, if you know the password. You are asked for it when you open the file, and it is only used on this device.
Does it work on a phone?
Yes. It works in modern mobile browsers. Large or long documents are slower on phones because all the work happens on the device.
