Word to PDF Converter

Convert DOCX documents to PDF with headings, lists, tables and images.

Convert a Word document (DOCX) to PDF without installing Word or uploading the file. The converter reads the document’s text, headings, lists, tables and images and lays them out as an A4 PDF with real, selectable text.

How to convert Word to PDF

  1. Drop your .docx file on the page or choose it from your device.
  2. Select Convert to PDF.
  3. Download the PDF. It has the same name as your document.

Why no upload matters

Word files often hold drafts, personal details and comments you would not want stored on someone else’s server. The DOCX is opened and converted inside your browser, on your device, and is never uploaded.

That also means it works the same on a shared or work computer: nothing is saved in an online account.

What converts well

  • Text documents such as letters, reports, CVs and essays.
  • Headings, paragraphs, bold and italic text, bulleted and numbered lists.
  • Simple tables and images placed in the text. Images in formats PDF cannot hold directly (such as GIF, WebP or BMP) are converted for you.
  • The PDF contains real text, so it can be searched and copied.

Limits

  • The PDF is rebuilt from the document’s structure, so it will not match Word’s page layout exactly. Headers and footers, columns, text boxes and custom fonts are not reproduced.
  • Pages are always A4.
  • Only .docx files are supported. Save older .doc files as .docx in Word or LibreOffice first.
  • Some images (for example older vector drawings) cannot be included. If that happens, the tool tells you how many were left out.

Frequently asked questions

How do I convert a Word document to PDF?

Drop the .docx file on this page and select Convert to PDF. The PDF downloads with the same name as your document.

Do I need Microsoft Word?

No. The conversion is done by this page in your browser, so you do not need Word or any other software.

Is my document uploaded?

No. The file is converted on your device and is not sent to any server.

Will the PDF look exactly like my Word document?

Close, but not identical. Text, headings, lists, tables and images come across, while exact page layout, headers and footers, columns and custom fonts do not. For a pixel-perfect copy, use Save as PDF in Word itself.

Can I convert a .doc file?

No, only .docx. Open the .doc file in Word or LibreOffice and save it as .docx first.

Can I choose US Letter instead of A4?

Not at the moment. The PDF is always A4.
