Add text, images, shapes, freehand drawings, highlights and comments to a PDF, right in your browser. Fill in a form that has no fields, mark up a draft, cover a typo and write the correction, or add a logo to a page.
How to edit a PDF
- Drop your PDF on the page or choose it from your device.
- Pick a tool (Text, Replace text, Image, a shape, Draw, Highlight, White-out or Note) and tap or drag on the page. Select an item to move it, resize it, change its colour or delete it.
- Select Save PDF and download the edited file.
Why no upload matters
The PDFs people edit are usually the ones they are about to send back: forms with personal details, contracts, applications. Every change here is made in your browser and the file is never uploaded, so what you type stays on your device.
What you can do
- Add new text anywhere, with a font size and colour of your choice.
- Replace a line of existing text: tap it, type the new wording, and it is written on a white box over the old line.
- Insert images such as a logo or a photo of a signature.
- Draw rectangles, ellipses, lines and arrows, or draw freehand.
- Highlight passages, white out areas, and add notes that are saved as standard PDF comments.
- Work on any page; your additions are drawn on top and the rest of the page is kept as it is.
Limits
- This is not a word processor: existing text is not reflowed. “Replace text” and White-out cover the original, which still exists underneath and can be found by copying or searching.
- To remove sensitive text or images for good, use Redact PDF instead.
- To put your signature on a document, Sign PDF has drawing, typing and image options made for that.
Frequently asked questions
How do I edit a PDF for free?
Drop the PDF on this page, pick a tool such as Text or Highlight, click on the page and select Save PDF. There is no sign-up and no watermark.
Can I change the existing text in a PDF?
You can replace a line: the old text is covered by a white box and your new text is written on top. The original text is not deleted from the file.
How do I permanently delete text from a PDF?
Use Redact PDF. It removes the text and images under the marked areas instead of just covering them.
Is my PDF uploaded while I edit?
No. Editing happens in your browser on your own device, and the file is never sent to a server.
Will other apps show my notes?
Yes. Notes are saved as standard PDF comments, which Acrobat, Preview and most PDF readers show.
Can I edit on my phone?
Yes. Tap to place items and drag to move them. Larger screens are easier for detailed work.
